Most people have at least tinkered with AI these days; “write me a blog article about why dogs are better than cats, written in a polite and friendly tone. Include 5 pros and 5 cons.”
AI then quickly writes a lovely article which you can copy paste onto your website. You can even use image AI to create an image or two for your post, saving either time searching image websites or paying for an image.
But should you use AI to write content for your website? Will it be detrimental to your SEO? Will the site get flagged as using AI derived content?
Everyone has their own opinion, here’s ours;
We use AI to be assistive, not as a replacement. This blog post is entirely human written, however we used AI to make sure our own knowledge is still correct.
For example, currently search engines are not marking websites with AI content in their results, however it’s likely they will in the future.
AI written content can be easy to spot, I usually spot them within a second or so. Personally I don’t read AI content, I can easily generate that myself. I want to read human created content, written based on someone’s experience or knowledge.
AI content can certainly have its place, if you choose to go down that route, ensure the content isn’t generic, make sure you fact check as AI can get things wrong and run the text through an SEO tool before adding to your website.
Poor SEO content can harm your rankings, as can over optimised text so be careful performing a straight copy/paste.
