Our first software was developed in 2003, which was a piece of web based software for an estate agency. The software provided an administration area for the agency to update the progress of conveyancing, along with a user area for customers to log in and also view their progress.
This software saved the agency hours of work each day, in providing updates to customers, receiving information and chasing information.
Prior to this project, we had focussed on creating websites, but after seeing the huge impact a piece of software can make to a company, we were hooked on software development.
We created intranets, stock management software, HR software, document management tools, hotel management, database applications and more.
A growth area in the 2010’s was around integration software. Often, a company have many pieces of software dedicated to a certain task. The issue with this is that these programs do not talk to each other. We create an integration software, essentially a tool that sits in-between other software to share data, or update one depending on actions in the other.
We have several popular WordPress Plugins for recruiters available, these plugins provide additional functionality to the worlds most popular CRM.
A custom software solution, built exactly to your needs will improve your workflow and efficiency of your business exponentially.
You’d think all of this comes at a huge cost, often, our software is either comparable in price to an off the shelf solution, or often, cheaper.
Off the shelf vs custom software
I have another post planned later this year to talk about the differences between custom software and an off the shelf solution. In short;
Off the shelf
Custom Software
Features
Pre-determined, may have features you don’t need, or missing features you do
Exact features required by your company
Layout
Fixed layout determined by the developers
Layout to maximise your workflow efficiency
Hosted
Either as a piece of software installed on a machine, or a web based SaaS model
Usually web based, meaning no software to install and available wherever there is internet
Upgradable
Often the software is set on purchase, what it can do now is what it will always do
Need more features? No problem, want to change how something works, easy
Compatibility
Usually comes with a range or requirements to use
Will work on any browser, such as desktop, laptop, tablet or phone
Cost
Usually a high one off fee, or monthly based on usage or number of users
Our cost is based on your needs / how long it takes to develop. No paying for what you don’t need
As you can see, custom software is usually the best option for businesses. If you have tried on the shelf solutions but find that none work for your business, get in contact to discuss how our software developers can create something perfect for your business.
