Your brand is your identity, your brand should instil confidence for your customer when buying or using your product or service. Over time, a brand design may become stagnant and in need of a complete change or refresh. Completely changing a brand is a huge prospect if you wish to retain the reputation that you have spent years gaining.
For this reason, most choose to refresh their brand, bringing it more up to date with current design and ideas. A brand refresh will be instantly recognisable by your customers but present you in a more forward-thinking light, again instilling confidence in you.
Matlock Town Council in Derbyshire recently chose to refresh their brand identity, the current logo and wealth of materials they have are in need of modernising, but the brand identity must remain intact.

The current logo is only available in low resolution meaning that it does not look crisp and clear when used. The crown, synonymous with the council currently is obscured by the Matlock Town Council Text which itself is not clear due to being placed over the top of the logo.
The new logo is currently being finalised but it truly is a brand refresh in all senses. We have recreated the crown in high resolution and made a few tweaks to give it a more modern and positive feel to it. The text has been separated from the crown making both easier to recogonise.
Of course, a brand is so much more than just a logo, however for Matlock, the logo is the start of the process. Over the coming months you will begin to see the new logo appearing across all materials, from social media to wayfinding signage around the town to the vehicle fleet.
The first area you will likely see the new logo will be the new Matlock Town Council website. We are very proud to be redesigning the website for them, more news on this coming soon.
